The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global, nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable cotton farming practices. It was founded in 2005 to address the environmental, social, and economic challenges of cotton production, which has significant impacts on water consumption, pesticide use, and labor practices. BCI works with farmers, governments, businesses, and NGOs to improve the sustainability of cotton production and make it more eco-friendly and socially responsible.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled materials, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions within the textile Exchange, a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainable practices in the textile industry, and it is designed to meet the needs of companies looking to verify the recycled content of their products.
